each happy hour hors d’oeuvre is a specially formulated superfood rocket offered as an extension to your hearts and hips asana practice at om time. stepping off the mat, each bite will send you into your weekend fully charged yet smooth and serene, ready for what lies ahead. enjoy.
thin min-Tee
1 1/2 cups shredded coconut
1/2 cup coconut oil
1/3 cup cacao nibs
3 tablespoons cacao powder
3 tablespoons maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon peppermint oil
1. in a bowl, combine all ingredients except the maple syrup.
2. add in maple syrup and stir well.
3. place in the freezer 8-10 minutes. remove and stir, it should be more firm, making it easier to scoop and press into shape.
4. scoop 1 tablespoon of of the mixture, press lightly to shape and place the sure shot on the parchment paper, cookie sheet, plate, etc. repeat until you are out of the mixture and place back in the freezer till firm. makes 22-24 thin min-Tee’s.
crunchie c.
1 1/2 cups shredded coconut
1/2 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup goji berries
2 tablespoons cacao powder
2 tablespoons cacao nibs
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1. in a bowl, combine all ingredients except the maple syrup.
2. add in maple syrup and stir well.
3. place in the freezer 8-10 minutes. remove and stir, it should be more firm, making it easier to scoop and press into shape.
4. scoop 1 tablespoon of of the mixture, press lightly to shape and place the sure shot on the parchment paper, cookie sheet, plate, etc. repeat until you are out of the mixture and place back in the freezer till firm. makes about 24 crunchie c’s.

sweet and spicy bites

1/2 cup coconut oil (liquified)

2 tablespoons grated ginger root
2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
2 tablespoons sweet or regular raw cacao nibs
2 teaspoons orange zest
1. in a bowl, combine everything except the maple syrup.
2. add in maple syrup and stir well.
3. place in the freezer 8-10 minutes. remove and stir, the mixture should appear more firm and will be easy to scoop.
4. scoop 1 tablespoon of mixture, lightly press to shape and place the sweet and spicy bite on parchment paper, cookie sheet, plate, etc. repeat until you are out of mixture and place back in the freezer until firm. makes 14-16 spirited bites.

1/2 cup soaked and dehydrated buckwheat
1/2 cup shredded coconut
1/2 cup coconut oil (liquified)
3 tablespoons maple syrup
2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
2 tablespoons raw cacao nibs
1 teaspoon orange zest
large pinch sea salt
1. in a bowl, combine all ingredients except the maple syrup.
2. add in maple syrup and stir well.
3. place in the freezer 8-10 minutes. remove and stir, it should be more firm and will be easy to scoop.
4. scoop 1 tablespoon of mixture, press lightly to shape and place on the moonbeam delight on the parchment paper, cookie sheet, plate, etc. repeat until you are out of mixture and place back in the freezer till firm. makes 14-16 delightful bites.

lemon sandies

1/2 cup soaked and dehydrated buckwheat
1/4 cup goji berries
4 tablespoons maple syrup
4 teaspoons lemon zest
1. in a bowl, combine all ingredients except the maple syrup.
2. add in maple syrup and stir well.
3. place in the freezer 8-10 minutes. remove and stir, it should be more firm and will be easy to scoop.
4. scoop 1 tablespoon of mixture, press lightly to shape and place on the lemon sandie on the parchment paper, cookie sheet, plate, etc. repeat until you are out of mixture and place back in the freezer till firm. makes 28-30 pecan-free sandies.
hot drops

1 tablespoon chopped orange zest
1 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
1. in a bowl, combine all ingredients except the maple syrup.
2. add in maple syrup and stir well.
3. place in the freezer 8-10 minutes. remove and stir, it should be more firm and will be easy to scoop.
4. scoop 1 tablespoon of mixture, press lightly to shape and place on the hot drop on the parchment paper, cookie sheet, plate, etc. repeat until you are out of mixture and place back in the freezer till firm. makes about 20 drops.
**because most of these hors d’oeuvres are made with coconut oil, they are best stored in the refrigerator or freezer to maintain their shape.

so…if no dehydrator, how to prepare the buckwheat for the bhakti bombs?
good question kari, with the summer heat you might get away with putting the buckwheat outside to catch some sun and let it dry naturally. i’ve heard of others placing an oven on its lowest setting and cracking the door to let the air circulate to create the dehydrator. i’ve also heard of preheating the oven, once preheated turn it off and place the buckwheat inside. repeat that process until the buckwheat is dry. although neither option it totally energy efficient it will keep your foods alive. let me know how it goes!
