iced matcha latte

do you matcha much? pretty new to the green tea powder myself and it’s been a pleasure to experiment with.

 

literally. due to the increased levels of l-theanine found in matcha leaves. l-theanine is an amino acid that has been shown to increase the production of alpha waves to the brain.

 

these waves not only induce mental relaxation and reduce stress but they also stimulate an improvement of mood, concentration, and memory.

 

matcha is even used by monks in ceremony as a way to relax yet remain alert while meditating.

 

a drink that promotes concentration and clarity of mind AND still tastes good? as if that’s not enough matcha is also high in chlorophyll and you know how i feel about chlorophyll.

 

yes please!

to prepare the matcha:

2TB matcha powder

add about 1/2 cup of 175 degree water which is somewhat less than boiling.

next, whisk briskly in a ‘w’ or ‘m’ pattern for a minute or two until the matcha froths to a nice green colored foam.

to prepare the coconut hemp milk you’ll need:

1 1/2 cups water

2TB coconut butter

1TB hemp seeds

2 dates (optional)

blend all ingredients in a high speed blender until creamy and smooth.

to make the iced latte:

grab a 1 quart mason jar and fill it with 4 cups ice.

pour the matcha over the ice, add the milk, stir and enjoy! serves 1-2.

  9. I bought some matcha earlier this summer to make iced lattes yet and haven’t used it yet. I definitely need to try this recipe out and put one together!

    I only just recently started drinking matcha tea. I like to add it to my morning smoothie, or make a latte. The coconut hemp milk sounds delicious! I am going to have to try it!
